Volunteering
Volunteer activities are generally onsite at the sanctuary. The sanctuary is located in Superior Township and the address is provided once a visit time is established. Since we do not have a staff we do not have open times for drop in visits.
Pet and Play program for groups or individuals
We hold two windows of time for groups or individuals to visit with the kitties on Saturdays and Sundays. During the school year, many of these windows are taken with university or school groups visiting the kitties for two hours at a time.
We can accommodate 8-10 people visiting at a time. In the winter, groups or 8 are encouraged since seating is limited. In the summer, the outdoor pen allows us to accommodate up to 10 people.
Visitors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.
All visitors are required to submit an online waiver prior to visiting the first time.
Feeding and cleaning
We maintain a team of feeding and cleaning volunteers that come weekly on a set schedule either in the morning (7-9am) or evening (4-6pm). Most chores can be completed in 1-1.5 hours. Volunteers are able to come when they want for their shift. If coverage is needed, then we have a group of substitute feeders we contact to fill an open slot.
Other ways to volunteer
Groups can conduct a fundraiser (money or food).
Groups or individuals can return refundable bottles and cans to the major stores (Kroger, Meijer, Busch’s, COSTCO) for refunds.
